Sanders campaigning in Minnesota on SC primary night

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will attend a rally in Minnesota on Saturday night instead staying in South Carolina where he is expected to lose the Democratic presidential primary to Hillary Clinton.

The former secretary of state has spent much of the week stumping across South Carolina, while Sanders traveled to states holding primaries next month.

A Sanders campaign pollster admitted this week that the margin in South Carolina is “not going to be that close.” He is down 27 percentage points to Clinton in the latest average from Real Clear Politics.

Clinton will hold a primary night event at the University of South Carolina volleyball center.

But in 2008, Clinton did not stay in South Carolina on primary night when she lost by 28 percentage points to Barack Obama. She campaigned in Nashville instead.

Clinton is campaigning in South Carolina on Friday along with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, her daughter, Chelsea. She was joined at events by a pair of former USC football stars now playing in the NFL, Alshon Jeffery and Stephon Gilmore.

Sanders returned to South Carolina on Friday afternoon for rallies in Orangeburg and Columbia.
