Woman shot in head when bullet fired in another apartment rips through wall, NC cops say

A woman was hit by a bullet that came through her North Carolina apartment wall, media outlets report.

The gun was fired in the neighbor’s apartment at about noon Saturday at Hillcrest Apartments in Asheville, and police say the bullet ripped through the wall and hit a 19-year-old in the head, WLOS reported.

Two of the woman’s family members were there when it happened, Asheville Police Department Lt. Sean Aardema told WYFF, and EMS was called to the home.

The woman was taken to Mission Hospital, where she is in critical condition, FOX Carolina reported.

Officers searched the neighbor’s apartment and did several interviews on Saturday, FOX Carolina reported, but they are still investigating the incident.

Aardema told WYFF that the woman didn’t seem to be a “target” for the shooting.
