Lottery player who once won $4 million just hit the jackpot again, NC officials say

A woman in North Carolina just won the lottery — for the second time.

Linda Tate bagged a $1 million prize playing the Colossal Cash scratch-off game, N.C. Education Lottery officials said in a news release Friday.

The Durham woman previously won $4 million playing Millionaire Bucks in 2018. She bought that ticket at Tri Star Mobil on Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard.

This go-around, Tate’s winning ticket came from the Family Fare on Old Chapel Hill Road.

Given the choice of receiving $50,000 for 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000, Tate went for the lump sum. Officials said she took home $424,509 after taxes.

Tate also chose the lump sum in 2018 and came away with $1.69 million after taxes, officials said at the time.
