Woman stops to gas up old car and wins $1 million in SC lottery. Now she has a new car
It’s a gas station trip one South Carolina woman won’t be forgetting any time soon.
That’s because the woman, whose name wasn’t shared publicly, walked away with a $1 million prize, according to the SC Education Lottery.
She had stopped at the Enmark Station at 125 Matthews Drive in Hilton Head Island to fill up her car before trying her luck at the $1,000,000 Bonus Match game, lottery officials said
“I didn’t believe it,” she said Thursday in a news release.
Her first order of business was buying a new car. Now she has her sights set on buying a house.
The seller of the ticket received a commission of $10,000, lottery officials said.
The odds of winning the top prize in the $1,000,000 Bonus Match game are 1 in 1,440,000, according to the lottery service. Two more top prizes are still available.
Players also have the opportunity to enter their non-winning tickets into a second-chance drawing for a $1 million jackpot.
Another South Carolina woman, for example, got a second chance at hitting the jackpot, McClatchy News reported.
She won $2 million after she entered her lottery ticket into a second-chance drawing that was chosen from more than 894,000 entries on Oct. 6.
