South Carolinians are gearing up for the Super Bowl, and pizza could be a fan favorite on game-day menus.

So, where do people in the state turn to for their pies? In 2021, Pizza Hut was South Carolina’s most popular search on Google Maps, data shows.

To come up with the findings, Google said it studied the pizza chains that people in each state looked up the most. While South Carolina wasn’t alone in its interest in Pizza Hut, the brand Domino’s led searches nationwide.

“With all of the change we’ve experienced over the past couple of years, one thing remains constant … people’s love for pizza,” Google wrote in a Feb. 8 blog post. “In fact, pizza was the top-searched dish on Google Maps during every month of 2021 in the U.S.”

For those craving pizza for the Super Bowl, it’s possible that other dishes will be served on the side. Corn dip has been leading unique game-day related searches in South Carolina, a year after Palmetto State residents were curious about meatballs, McClatchy News reported.

Though South Carolina residents searched Pizza Hut more than any other chain, that may not be where people are heading.

Early in the coronavirus pandemic, the company Top Data researched cellphone data and found Marco’s Pizza was the chain South Carolinians visited most often. At the time, Little Caesars was a favorite in 24 states, even as trips to pizzerias dropped, McClatchy News reported in August 2020.

This time around, Little Caesars led searches in two states, while other brands such as California Pizza Kitchen and MOD Pizza topped the list in only one state.
