A Midlands woman got the ultimate surprise at a family birthday celebration, according to South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

It came when she scratched a 50X game at the dinner table to reveal a $200,000 prize, officials said in an April 21 news release. She purchased it earlier that day at the Wilsons II Inc. convenience store in Little Mountain, and had forgotten about it until dinnertime.

“It was life changing,” the woman said, according to the release. “Everybody wanted to look at the ticket.” She choose to remain anonymous.

With her winnings, she said she plans “to give back and help others.”

The lottery winner beat odds of 1 in 750,000 to win the $200,000 jackpot, lottery officials said. Two top prizes remain in the 50X game.

Little Mountain is about 30 miles northwest of Columbia.
