All post offices in SC are closed Thursday and not because of snow or icy weather. Here’s why
The United States Postal Service is recognizing a national day of observance to honor former President Jimmy Carter, who died Sunday, Dec. 29.
He was 100.
President Joe Biden issued an executive order that the national day of mourning be held on Thursday, closing all executive departments and agencies within the federal government.
SC mail deliveries for Thursday
USPS facilities in South Carolina and the rest of the U.S. will be closed on Thursday, except as needed for “limited package delivery,” the postal service said. In other words, regular mail delivery has been suspended, along with retail services and office activity.
Limited package delivery service will continue Thursday “to ensure the organization does not experience any impacts to its package delivery operations that may negatively affect customers or business partners,” USPS said in a news release.
Customers will still be able to use the usps.com website to track packages, buy stamps and find USPS locations, including self-service kiosks.
Mail delivery is set to resume on Friday, Jan. 10, USPS states.
