‘Sweet’ dog is ‘bit of a diva’ — and is waiting for yet another new home at SC shelter
A “sweet” dog has been in and out of a shelter for years — and now she waits for another new home.
“Foxy adores her people, and is beyond affectionate,” the South Carolina animal shelter wrote Feb. 23 on Facebook. “Nothing will put a smile on your face quite like seeing Foxy wiggle her whole chunky body with excitement when she sees you.”
The 45-pound pup is up for adoption after a journey that started nearly five years ago. Over time, she has become one of the shelter’s longest residents and a staff favorite, the Spartanburg Humane Society wrote in an email to McClatchy News.
“Foxy was originally brought to us here in October of 2020, due to an illness in the family, and has been in and out of the shelter on a couple of occasions in which she was adopted, but later returned for being too active,” adoption counselor Matthew Bazemore wrote. “While she is a very sweet and affectionate dog, she is definitely one of our more energetic residents that will need plenty of exercise, and space to run and play in order to help get some of that energy out.”
Foxy is described as a 6-year-old dog who enjoys going on walks and giving “gentle” hugs and kisses. The mixed-breed pup has some particular needs for her next home.
“Foxy is looking for a very specific family and lifestyle,” the shelter wrote in an online adoption profile. “Foxy is a bit of a diva and can’t seem to share the love and affection of her family with any other children (whether) four legged or two legged.”
As of Feb. 25, the shelter’s website still listed Foxy among the animals in need of new owners. Details about the facility’s adoption process can be found at spartanburghumane.org.
“Foxy is looking for a family with no children, dogs, cats, or other pets but full of love and attention that she will give back to you tenfold,” the shelter wrote.
