Thanksgiving in the Midlands is expected to be cloudy after some showers overnight Wednesday but highs in the 60.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is if you’re going out of town anywhere north or flying through Atlanta or Charlotte on Wednesday you could run into travel delays, various weather services report.

Thunderstorms are predicted for the Southeast on Wednesday.

The Farmer’s Almanac says North and South Carolina will see fair weather early in the week, then rain but clearing in time for Thanksgiving.

“People heading out on the highways should be prepared for snowy conditions in parts of the Midwest and Northwest,” Paul Pastelok of AccuWeather said.

Rain and fog will accompany storms from the central U.S. into the Northeast before Thanksgiving Day.

On Monday, snow will fall on the northeastern slopes of the Rockies and High Plains from cold air from Canada. Montana to Wyoming, western Nebraska and Colorado will likely see snow on Tuesday into Wednesday, AccuWeather said.

Poor travel conditions are expected in parts of Michigan on Wednesday with rain moving into the eastern U.S.

“There is the potential for travel delays related to rain, slick conditions and poor visibility from the Ohio Valley to the Northeast states from Wednesday to Wednesday night, but that will depend on the track, strength and forward speed of the large storm system,” Pastelok said. “The storm will be losing some of its intensity and moisture as it travels from the Central states to the Northeast, but given the travel volume, even a few hours of rain can create significant problems on the roads and runways from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia, New York City and Boston.”

Bustery conditions and some lake-effect snow will likely be seen in the Great Lakes region from Wednesday to Thanksgiving Day.

Rain and snow showers are possible along a cold front pivoting from the Ohio Valley to the Appalachians through Thanksgiving Day.

If you’re going to Florida, you might see showers or thunderstorms on Wednesday into Thursday.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade probably won’t be affected since weather experts expect the strong winds behind the cold front will not flow into the region until afternoon or evening.

Dry with light winds won’t affect the huge parade balloons, AccuWeather said.

Flurries, maybe some snow, could fall in parts of the mid-Atlantic and New England coasts on Thanksgiving night.
