Rollover crash blocks traffic near church in Lexington, police say

One road is closed and part of another busy street is blocked following a Sunday morning crash, the Lexington Police Department said.

The collision happened at the intersection of U.S. 378/Sunset Boulevard and Northside Boulevard, according to police. That’s near Northside Baptist Church, and about half a mile from Exit 61 on Interstate 20.

The wreck did not involve the church, Sgt. Cameron Mortenson told The State.

All of Northside Boulevard was closed, and an outbound lane on Sunset Boulevard was blocked, police said at about 9:45 a.m.

Two cars were involved in the crash that was caused by one of the drivers failing to yield right of way, Mortenson said. One of the vehicles rolled over during the collision.

No one involved in the wreck was taken to an area hospital by EMS, according to Mortenson.

At about 10:30 a.m., police said all lanes on both of the roads were reopened and the scene was cleared.
