Lexington man dies day after motorcycle crash, SC officials say
A Lexington man died the day after a motorcycle crash on a Midlands road, officials said Monday.
Jonathan Wayne Quesinberry Sr., 54, died as a result of a motorcycle accident, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said.
The single-vehicle collision happened at about 6:25 p.m. Sunday, according to Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Quesinberry was driving a 2013 Harley-Davidson north on Beechwoods Drive and crashed when he was near the intersection with U.S. 378, Tidwell said.
Quesinberry was not wearing a helmet when he was ejected from the Harley-Davidson, Fisher said.
Quesinberry, who was the only person on the motorcycle, was taken to a Prisma Health hospital in Richland County where he died Monday, according to Tidwell.
No other injuries were reported.
Information about what caused the motorcycle to crash was not available, but it remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
Through Friday, 25 motorcycle riders were among the 248 people who had died on South Carolina roads in 2022, state Department of Public Safety data shows.
At least eight people have been killed in Lexington County crashes in 2022, and this is the second that involved a motorcycle, DPS reported.
In 2021, 159 motorcycle riders were among the 1,192 people who had died on South Carolina roads, according to DPS. Five of last year’s 57 deadly crashes in Lexington County involved a motorcycle, DPS data shows.
