Lexington County man killed in crash involving flipping vehicle identified by coroner
A Midlands man was killed Tuesday when a vehicle crashed into a tree and flipped over, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office said.
Tavon T. Blazek-Hill, a 24-year-old Gaston resident, died at the scene, Coroner Margaret Fisher said in a news release.
The single-vehicle collision happened at about 3 p.m. in the 600 block of Founders Road in Lexington, according to the release.
Blazek-Hill was driving south on Founders Road when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road, hit a tree and overturned, Fisher said.
Blazek-Hill was wearing a seat belt, according to Fisher.
No other injuries were reported.
Information about what caused the vehicle to veer off the road was not available, but the crash is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Through Monday, 441 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2022, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Last year, 1,194 people died in crashes in South Carolina, DPS reported.
At least 16 people have died in Lexington County crashes in 2022, DPS reported. Last year, 57 deaths were reported there, according to DPS data.
