Another driver killed as deadly stretch of days on Lexington County roads continues
One person was killed and two others were injured Wednesday in a crash, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
It was the most recent of multiple fatal wrecks in Lexington County in the past week.
The two-vehicle collision happened at about noon at the intersection of U.S. 378 and and Peachland Drive, according to Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell. That’s in the Gilbert area, near Lake Murray.
A 2022 Subaru Outback was driving west on U.S. 378 when it collided with a 2003 Lincoln Aviator that was heading north on Peachland Drive, Tidwell said.
Three people were injured in the crash, and they were taken to area hospitals, according to Tidwell.
The driver of the Lincoln was taken to Lexington Medical Center and later died, Tidwell said.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office is expected to publicly identify the Lincoln driver after notifying the next of kin.
Tidwell said the driver and passenger in the Subaru were also hurt, but further information on their conditions was not available.
There was no word if any of the people involved in the wreck wore seat belts.
Information about what caused the collision was not available, but it continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol.
