Crash causes injuries, blocks highway in Richland County during morning commute
A crash caused injuries and blocked part of a highway running through Columbia, creating delays for drivers on the Monday morning commute.
A westbound lane on Interstate 20 was closed following the collision that happened at about 6:55 a.m., according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
The crash occurred near Exit 76 on I-20, which is the junction with Interstate 77, just beyond the exit for Two Notch Road in Richland County.
Information about the cause of the collision, and the number of vehicles involved, was not available.
Injuries were reported in the wreck, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. There was no word on the number of people hurt or their conditions.
Vehicles were backed up near the crash on I-20 as emergency vehicles responded to the scene, traffic cameras showed.
The scene was cleared just before 7:30 a.m., according to SCDOT.
