The South Carolina Department of Public Safety did not say if anyone was injured in the crash, but traffic cameras showed multiple emergency responders were on the scene.

Vehicles were backed up for at least a mile on I-77, and crowded the exit ramp from Interstate 26, according to traffic cameras.

At about 8:50 a.m., SCDOT reported the lanes had reopened. Traffic cameras showed the highway was still congested and there was no word when it’s expected that the scene would be cleared.

Drivers should try to avoid the area if possible, otherwise delays are expected.
