SC man killed in motorcycle crash identified by Lexington County coroner

A Midlands man was killed in a motorcycle crash, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office said.

Michael David Tribble, a 48-year-old Lexington resident, died in Thursday’s accident, Coroner Margaret Fisher said.

At about 7:30 p.m., Tribble was riding a motorcycle east in the 1100 block of South Lake Drive when he was struck by another vehicle, according to Fisher.

Tribble, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to an area hospital where he died from the injuries, Fisher said.

No other injuries were reported.

Information about what led to the collision was not available, but the crash continues to be investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and coroner’s office.

Through May 21, at least 370 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2023, including 39 involving motorcycles, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Last year, 1,091 people died in crashes in South Carolina, DPS reported.

At least 13 people have died in Lexington County crashes in 2023, according to DPS data. Last year, 43 deaths were reported in the county, DPS reported.
