One driver killed, another injured in head-on crash on South Carolina road, cops say
One person was killed and another was hurt in a head-on crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said Tuesday.
The two-vehicle collision happened Saturday at about 9:15 p.m. in Clarendon County, according to Lance Cpl. William Bennett.
A 2012 Harley-Davidson was driving south on Raccoon Road and a 2015 Chevrolet pickup was heading north when the vehicles crashed head-on, Bennett said. That’s in the Manning area, not far from Interstate 95.
The motorcycle rider died at the scene, according to Bennett.
The Clarendon County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the Harley-Davidson rider.
The Chevy driver was injured and taken to an area hospital, according to Bennett. Further information on the pickup driver’s condition was not available.
Bennett said the drivers were the only people on the motorcycle and in the pickup, and no other injuries were reported.
There was no word if the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet, or if the pickup driver was wearing a seat belt.
Information about what caused the vehicles to collide was not available, but the crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol.
