Body found on side of South Carolina road after crash, coroner says
One person was killed Tuesday night in South Carolina when a bicycle and pickup truck were involved in a crash, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
Noah Bloese-Bueno, a 21-year-old Aiken resident, was the bike rider who died in what Coroner Darryl Ables called an accident in a Wednesday news release.
At about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aiken Department of Public Safety officers responded to the wreck on Hitchcock Parkway at Woods End Way in Aiken, according to the release. Officers found Bloese-Bueno’s body on a side of the road, the coroner’s office said.
Aiken County EMS also responded to the crash and determined that the unresponsive bike rider was dead, according to the release.
An investigation showed that Bloese-Bueno was traveling east on Hitchcock Parkway, then crossed over into the westbound lane and was struck by a 2000 Ford Ranger that was driving west, the coroner’s office said.
Ables said that the pickup driver was not hurt, and no other injuries were reported.
Both the coroner’s office and the department of public safety are continuing to investigate the crash.
Through Sunday, 49 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2026, according to the state Department of Public Safety. A minimum of 914 people were killed in collisions in South Carolina in 2025, DPS data shows.
This was the second deadly crash of the new year in Aiken County, where 23 people died in 2025 wrecks, according to DPS data.
