One person killed in crash on I-95 in South Carolina, cops say
One person was killed Tuesday when the motorcycle they were riding crashed on Interstate 95, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The single-vehicle collision happened at about 4 p.m. in Dorchester County, said Cpl. Nick Pye.
A 2015 Harley-Davidson was driving south on I-95, according to Pye. At the 77-mile marker, which is near the junction with U.S. 78, the motorcycle spilled in the southbound lanes of I-95, Pye said.
The Harley-Davidson rider died, according to Pye.
The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the motorcycle rider.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word if the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet.
Information about what caused the Harley-Davidson to spill in the road was not available, but the crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol.
Through Sunday, 249 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2026, according to the state Department of Public Safety. A minimum of 914 people were killed in collisions in South Carolina in 2025, DPS data shows.
At least seven people have died in Dorchester County crashes this year, and 21 people died in wrecks there in 2025, according to DPS data.
