Letters: Catch and release hurts cats, birds

By Jim Clark’s logic, it is more compassionate to spay-neuter cats and release them to be the victims of hunger, fleas, ticks, feline leukemia, rabies and other diseases than to put them to death (“‘Catch and release’ is the compassionate option,” April 19). Not to mention cars and dogs.

What a rosy, carefree life they will have. In addition to their suffering, they kill songbirds and defecate on playgrounds and gardens, spreading diseases.
