Letters to the Editor

There are two kinds of immigrants. The rules are different for each

An anti-immigration protestor holds a sign in front of his face as he demonstrates in front of NBC Studios where a coalition of advocacy groups called for NBC to cancel the guest-host appearance of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live,” Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, in New York. I could only cringe when I read Hoyt Wheeler’s letter to the editor concerning immigrants (“Immigrants should inspire all of us”). His diatribe only reinforces the obvious lack of understanding of, or willing ignorance of, the law.

There is a huge difference between legal and illegal immigration, but Mr. Wheeler and his fellow leftists refuse to acknowledge that there is any difference.

The current president is clearly and obviously calling out illegal and criminal immigrants, and the left has launched a mad and frantic effort to gain any sort of relevance. Liberals’ hysteria demonstrates their desperation.

The State publishes a cross section of the letters we receive from South Carolinians in order to provide a forum for our community and also to allow our community to get a good look at itself, for good or bad. The letters represent the views of the letter writers, not necessarily of The State.
