Gamecocks grad, WLTX alum Alyssa Lang earns her own show on SEC Network
South Carolina alum Alyssa Lang is getting her own show on the SEC Network, just in time for the start of the 2020 football season.
“Out of Pocket with Alyssa Lang” will debut at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, it was announced Tuesday afternoon. The show will center around Lang’s love of football, food, memes and more, according to a news release.
“It’s really an incredible honor that my bosses have trusted me with this new assignment,” Lang said. “I’m so excited to be able to bring a little more personality to the set and to provide unique and new content on game days.”
Lang will continue her duties as the host of “Thinking Out Loud” and “SEC Now” on the SEC Network. The 27-year-old was also recently announced as the co-host alongside Field Yates of ESPN Radio’s Sunday afternoon show “Primetime.”
Lang graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2015 and joined the SEC Network in 2018.
Prior to joining the SEC Network, Lang spent time at First Coast News in Jacksonville and WLTX in Columbia.
“It’s no secret that Alyssa is a rising star in the industry, and we couldn’t be more excited to center this new show around her,” SEC Network senior coordinating producer Tom McCollum said. “Her relatability and energy mixed with her football IQ make her the perfect person to host a show like this.”
The show will air from 9:30-10 a.m. on Saturdays, after “Marty & McGee” (7-9:30 a.m.) and before SEC Nation (10 a.m. to noon).
Lang’s new show will feature plenty of football talk but will also include interviews with players and coaches where they can showcase their personalities outside of football.
“We’ll still be talking football but also blending in what these guys are interested in, what their hobbies are, giving them an outlet to have fun,” Lang said. “Really showing the fans what these guys are like before and after kickoff on Saturdays.”
Lang will also mix in her own personality, and fans will be a part of some segments as well, whether it be Q&As with Lang or submitting food suggestions from different places throughout the SEC.
“It won’t just be talking about football,” Lang said. “It’ll be food and social media and all of that stuff sorted into a wake up, relax and get ready for college football kind of show.”
