South Carolina baseball holds steady in polls

South Carolina is still ranked No. 6 by Baseball America and No. 7 by D1Baseball.com after splitting a series with No. 1 Florida over the weekend.

Game 3 of the series was rained out on Sunday after Florida won the opener 5-4 and USC won the second game 2-1.

The Gamecocks did move up one spot to No. 7 in the Perfect Game Top 25, and Carolina remains No. 3 in the NCAA RPI, behind Florida and Louisville.

USC is one of six SEC teams ranked in the Baseball America top 10 with Florida No. 1, Texas A&M No. 2 and Mississippi State No. 3. Ole Miss is one spot behind South Carolina at No. 7, while Vanderbilt rounds out the top 10.

The Gators remained No. 1 in all three polls.

The Gamecocks hold a one-game lead over Florida and a 1.5-game lead over Texas A&M in the SEC standings with three series remaining.

South Carolina hosts USC Upstate on Wednesday before traveling to Kentucky this weekend.

The Gamecocks’ final two SEC series are at home against the Aggies and on the road at Alabama.
