South Carolina DB says he’ll enter the transfer portal

South Carolina defensive back Kajuan Banks will enter the transfer portal, he announced via social media Sunday night.

He’s the first member of the USC secondary to declare that he intends to transfer. The portal officially opens Monday, with 12 Gamecocks being reported as having plans to depart.

The 5-foot-10, 173-pound sophomore took snaps in every game each of the past two years, but failed to make a start. As a true sophomore this season, Banks tallied eight tackles and an interception in the season opener against North Carolina.

A former three-star prospect, the Tallahassee native signed with Shane Beamer’s team over Tennessee, Kentucky and others. Now, he will leave Columbia with two years of eligibility remaining.

“I want to thank coach Beamer, (DBs coach Torrian) Gray,” Banks wrote on X (Twitter) on Sunday night, “and the entire University of South Carolina coaching staff for the opportunity.”

WR: Juice Wells, O’Mega Blake, Landon Samson, Zavier Short, Kylic Horton
