Dylan Thompson, Damiere Byrd earn spots on NFL practice squads
Former South Carolina quarterback Dylan Thompson is on the 10-man practice squad for the San Francisco 49ers, the team announced Sunday.
Thompson threw two touchdowns in the 49ers’ final preseason game (to former Gamecocks Bruce Ellington and Busta Anderson) and passed for 225 yards in all of his preseason appearances.

Both Thompson and Byrd were originally signed as undrafted free agents in May.
Byrd scored on an 18-yard reception in the preseason against the Miami Dolphins.
