Former Gamecock P.J. Dozier to spend rest of regular season with Boston Celtics
As the Boston Celtics get ready for the playoffs over the final few weeks of the regular season, P.J. Dozier will be part of the roster.
The Columbia native and former South Carolina will be on Boston’s roster for the rest of the regular season. Dozier played most of the year for Maine Red Claws, the Celtics’ G-League affiliate, but their season is over so Boston has called him up.
Dozier has appeared in five games this season for Boston and played three minutes Sunday against San Antonio. He could see more time over the final eight games with several of Celtics’ players nursing injuries.
“He’s super reliable, can guard a bunch of different positions and makes plays off the pick-and-roll,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens told BostonCeltics.com “So, we could use him in a situation with our other better wings where he would be a good complementary piece with them.”
Dozier started in all 46 of Maine’s games this season, averaging 21 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.5 assists and earned all G-League honors. He was with Oklahoma City organization last season before signing with Celtics as a free agent in the offseason.
