USC Recruiting

Gamecocks offer dual-threat Texas QB who had 38 total TDs last season

The South Carolina football program went into Texas to make its first offer to a QB in the Mike Bobo era, and now the Gamecocks have gone to the Lone Star state for the first offer under Bobo of a 2021 passer.

Cedar Hill dual-threat passer Kaidon Salter Tweeted on Monday night the Gamecocks had offered. His other offers include Arkansas, Baylor, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

At the moment, the three-star recruit is the No. 613 player in the country in the 247 Sports composite rankings and the No. 19 dual-threat passer. USC also has offers out to Dallas-area passer Garrett Nussmeier and Colten Gauthier from Georgia.

Last season Salter led his team to a 9-3 record by hitting 61 percent of his passes for 2,550 yards with 28 touchdowns and six interceptions. He added 616 yards and 10 scores on the ground.

South Carolina’s last two QB signees have been Elite 11 passers in Luke Doty and Ryan Hilinski. They also added graduate transfer Collin Hill this offseason. Whichever player joins the team for 2021 will share the QB room with Doty and Hilinski.
