USC working hard to keep commitment Tavyn Jackson in the fold

South Carolina recruiter Mike Peterson was in Wednesday to visit with committed defensive back Tavyn Jackson of Tallahassee, Fla.

Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson met with Jackson last week. The Gamecocks are doing all they can to make sure Jackson stays in the fold, and so far it’s all good from their standpoint despite Jackson taking other official visits.

“It was cool,” Jackson said of the visit with Peterson. “We talked about the official (to USC) in January the week of the 23rd. And we were just catching up on the season. He kind of knows how I feel about the situation. He knows I’m going to Indiana (for a visit) but he’s not too worried. I told him I’m coming, so he’s not too worried. My commitment is 100 percent, but I’m not going to count any school out.”

Indiana also was in to see Jackson Wednesday. He is scheduled to visit there Jan. 14. He also visited Maryland last weekend, but Indiana appears to be the strongest competition for the Gamecocks at this point.

South Carolina has five defensive backs committed for the 2017 class and is still recruiting two junior college DBs.
