A look at The State’s all-area boys soccer team and Players of the Year from Midlands-area high schools for the 2025 season.

Tanner Battafarano, Cardinal Newman: Junior forward had 12 goals and 10 assists this season for SCISA 4A champions.

Jacob Braden, Chapin: Junior D/MF had one goal and three assists. Braden was a Class 5A Division II All-State selection.

Ernesto Brazell, Swansea: Junior defender had eight goals and seven assists. Brazell was Region 4-3A Player of the Year and 3A All-State selection.

Ryan Conder, Mid-Carolina: Senior C/MF had four goals and 21 assists. Conder was Class 2A All-State selection.

Jay Etheredge, Gray Collegiate: Senior defender had four goals and 14 assists. Etheredge was Class 4A All-State selection, picked for Clash of the Carolinas All-Star game and signed to play at USC Lancaster.

JJ Evans, Gray Collegiate: Senior defender had seven goals and seven assists. Evans was selected to the North-South All-Star game.

David Flores, Newberry: Senior defender had three goals this season and was a Class 2A All-State selection.

Junior Gonzalez, Gray Collegiate: Senior defender had five goals and six assists. Gonzalez was a Class 4A All-State selection.

Connor Hughes, Chapin: Junior goalkeeper had a 0.798 goals against average with nine shutouts.

Richard King, Newberry: Senior goalkeeper had a 0.805 goals allowed average with 12 shutouts this season. King was a Class 2A All-State selection.

Fiston Kabwe, Columbia: Senior was North-South All-Star selection and signed to play at Bob Jones University.

Bryan Lee, Spring Valley: Senior had 16 goals and eight assists this season for the Vikings.

DeSean Logan, Lexington: Sophomore defender was Class 5A Division II All-State selection.

Cullen Maas, AC Flora: Junior forward had 32 goals and 11 assists this season. Maas was Region 3-4A Player of the Year and Class 4A All-State selection.

Wyatt Moore, Dutch Fork: Freshman midfielder had 20 goals and five assists this season. Moore was a Class 5A Division I All-State selection.

Noah Mitchell, Gray Collegiate: Senior midfielder had 12 goals and 26 assists this season for the War Eagles. Mitchell was Class 4A All-State selection and picked to play in the Clash of the Carolinas All-Star game. He signed to play at Emory & Henry.

Matthew Pinasco, Hammond: Junior midfielder/forward had 32 goals and 26 assists this season. Pinasco was SCISA Region 1-4A Co-Player of Year and All-State selection.

Jan Pecina-Fernandez, A.C. Flora: Sophomore forward had 14 goals and seven assists. Pecina-Fernandez was a Class 4A All-State selection.

Finn Porter, A.C. Flora: Senior midfielder had three goals and five assists. Porter was Class 4A All-State selection and picked to play in the North-South All-Star game.

Dalton Purcell, Blythewood: Sophomore midfielder/forward had 15 goals and 19 assists this season. Purcell was Region 5-5A Player of Year and selected to the Class 5A Division I All-State team.

Gaines Roberts, Irmo: Senior midfielder had six goals and 11 assists. Roberts was a Class 5A Division II All-State selection and signed with Keane State.

Andy Rivera, Brookland-Cayce: Senior was Class 4A All-State selection.

Juel Rivers, Swansea: Junior midfielder had 17 goals and two assists. Rivers was a Class 3A All-State selection.

Connor Smith, Dreher: Senior goalkeeper allowed just 18 goals in 16 games. Smith was a Class 4A All-State selection.

Jalen Tucker, Chapin: Junior forward had 17 goals and nine assists this season. Tucker was Region 4-5A Player of Year and Class 5A Division II All-State selection.

Dakota Venugopal, Cardinal Newman: Senior defender had seven goals and seven assists this season in helping the Cards to the SCISA 4A championship. Venugoapal was SCISA 1-4A Co-Player of the Year.

Barrett Wilson, Lexington: Senior midfielder had 14 goals and 12 assists this season. Wilson was Class 5A Division I All-State selection and picked to play in Clash of Carolinas All-Star game. Wilson signed to play at Randolph-Macon College.

Quade Wilson, Cardinal Newman: Junior midfielder had 12 goals and 17 assists for SCISA 4A champions.

Grayson Zamiello, Chapin: Senior defender had three assists and was Class 5A Division II All-State selection.
