Midlands high school football: Best Week 4 games, schedule, predictions
It is the fourth week of the 2025 regular season for South Carolina high school football. Here’s a look at this week’s top games in the Midlands and winner predictions.
Batesburg-Leesville (1-1) at Lower Richland (2-1)
Players to Watch - BL: Amadre Wooden, WR/DB KD Whitt; LR: LB Sergino Samuels, RB Solomon Kelson
Notes: Lower Richland leads all-time series, 5-0, including a 21-7 win last season. That was the first meeting between the two teams since 1963. BL quarterback Reese Boehnke has thrown for 364 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Amadre Wooden has rushed for 160 yards and three TDs. KD Whitt leads the team with 192 yards receiving and four total TDs. Lower Richland has won two straight after an opening week loss. LR’s Sergino Samuels has scored a defensive touchdown in each of the Diamond Hornets’ three games. Maxwell Wilson leads LR with 11 tackles for loss and three sacks.
Camden (3-0) at Ridge View (1-2)
Players to Watch - C: ATH Tylin Drakeford, RB Navier Boykin; RV: DB Jordyn Best, WR Carter Coleman
Notes: Ridge View leads series, 3-2, including last year’s 43-26 game. Both teams come into the game ranked in the latest SC High School Football Media poll with RV at No. 10 in 5A and Camden No. 5 in 4A. Camden is off to its first 3-0 start since 2020. Camden RB Navier Boykin leads the team with 330 yards and four touchdowns. Camden senior Tylin Drakeford leads the team with 478 all-purpose yards. He has a team-high 14 catches for 242 receiving yards and two interceptions. Lavay Manning leads Bulldogs with 37 tackles. Ridge View is playing its fourth straight ranked opponent. Blazers WR Khristian Jackson left last week’s game late against Dutch Fork with a shoulder injury. Jackson announced Wednesday he had collarbone surgery and will miss the next several games. Jourdin Mack leads Ridge View with 11 catches for 270 yards and two touchdowns. RV quarterback Ashton Chapman has completed 62 percent of his passes for 449 yards and three TDs. RV linebacker Djuan Franklin has 19 tackles, a sack and interception.
Carolina Forest (2-0) at Irmo (3-0)
Players to Watch - CF: QB Kamren Long, RB Jaryn Fox; I: DE Jaiden Bryant, ATH Maleek Miller
Notes: Second meeting between the two schools. Irmo won, 55-7, last season. Irmo is off to a 3-0 start for the third straight year and CF is 2-0 for the first time since 2020. Irmo defensive end Jaiden Bryant had 14 tackles, three sacks and scored two defensive touchdowns last week against Butler (NC). Branden Goldsborough leads Irmo with 28 tackles and Jamar Grissett has two interceptions.
Dutch Fork (2-0) at Gray Collegiate (1-1)
Players to Watch - QB Jaxon Knotts, DE Jaden Wuerth GC: RB Trevon Williamson, LB JP Sweatt
Notes: Second meeting between the two schools. Dutch Fork won, 35-0, last season and enters the game with a 23-game winning streak. DF defensive end Jaden Wuerth leads the Silver Foxes with three sacks. Dutch Fork defensive end Julian Walker is a Michigan commit and has been invited to play in the Navy All-American Football All-Star game. DF quarterback Jaxon Knotts had 342 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winning run late in the win over Ridge View last week. Gray’s Trevon Williamson had 134 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a win over Marlboro County last week. Corey Gleaton leads GC with two interceptions and Michael Boulware is team leader with 34 tackles.
Gilbert (1-1) at River Bluff (1-2)
Players to Watch - G: S Wynn Meetze; LB Gray Gunter; RB: QB Brayden Moore, RB Hayden Myers
Notes: River Bluff leads series, 5-2, including last year’s 14-13 win. The Gators stopped the Indians on a two-point conversion with 34 seconds left to seal the win last year. Gray Gunter leads Gilbert with 32 tackles. Hayden Myers leads RB with 400 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Darius Carter has 16 catches for 224 yards and two touchdowns. QB Brayden Moore has thrown for 524 yards and four touchdowns. LB Reece Huffstetler leads RB with 26 tackles.
Heathwood Hall (2-1) at Hammond (3-0)
Players to Watch - HH: QB Patrick Belk, LB Julian Hughes. HA: LB Jackson Ross, DL John Stokes
Notes: Hammond has won 19 straight over Heathwood Hall and enters the game with a 26-game winning streak dating back to 2023. Jackson Ross leads Hammond with 21 tackles and has four pass break-ups and three quarterback hurries. WR Kanye Reed leads Hammond with 11 catches for 150 yards and Levi Myers has 251 yards rushing and one TD. Heathwood QB Patrick Belk has thrown for 421 yards, rushed for 146 with four total TDs. Heyward Belsar leads HH with 31 tackles.
