QB Jackson Muschamp makes his choice: He’s headed west to play college football
Jackson Muschamp is headed out west for his college career.
The Hammond quarterback committed to Colorado State on Sunday after taking an official visit there this weekend. The son of South Carolina coach Will Muschamp led the Skyhawks to a pair of SCISA 3A titles as starting quarterback and as part of another as defensive back.
Colorado State first-year coach Steve Addazio offered Muschamp when he was at Boston College and extended an offer when he got the CSU job last month. Addazio replaced Mike Bobo, who was fired and is now the offensive coordinator for Muschamp’s dad at USC.
Jackson Muschamp also had offers from Wofford, Middle Tennessee State, Samford and Western Carolina. Baylor and Miami also showed interest. He also considered walking on at Georgia, his father’s alma mater, but CSU was an opportunity that was too big to pass up.
247Sports ranks Muschamp as a three-star prospect and No. 72 in South Carolina for Class of 2020. As a junior, Muschamp threw for 3,062 yards and 34 touchdowns.. This season, he threw for over 2,000 yards and 29 touchdown passes.
Muschamp is the only quarterback commit so far for CSU’s Class of 2020. There are four quarterbacks currently on the Rams’ roster.
Muschamp was one of three high high-profile Midlands players to commit Sunday. Gilbert quarterback Jy Tolen committed to Gardner-Webb and White Knoll offensive lineman Nick Taiste committed to South Carolina State.
