Carolina Panthers impending free agent Sean Chandler suspended by NFL for two games
Carolina Panthers safety Sean Chandler won’t play in the first two games of the 2023 regular season.
The impending unrestricted free agent has been suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substances policy.
An NFL spokesperson issued the following statement to The Observer on Monday:
“Sean Chandler of the Carolina Panthers has been suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2023 regular season for violating the NFL Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances.
“Chandler is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games. He will be allowed to return to the Panthers’ active roster on the day following the team’s Week 2 game.”
Chandler is set to hit the free-agent market on March 15. He has played the past two seasons with the Panthers.
In 32 games with Carolina, Chandler has produced 67 tackles and a forced fumble. A special teams ace, Chandler also served as the personal protector on punt coverage this past season, and produced 12 special teams tackles last year.
The 26-year-old was among the former Temple players that former head coach Matt Rhule brought to Carolina during his tenure. Chandler spent the first three seasons of his career with the New York Giants.
Chandler entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018.
