Former USC CB Stephon Gilmore wants assignment to cover ‘Gronk’

Buffalo cornerback Stephon Gilmore is hoping his assignment on Sunday when the Bills play New England includes covering Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

“I hope I get ‘Gronk,’ to be honest with you,” Gilmore told The Buffalo News. “We’ll see what the coaching staff says.”

Gilmore, a former South Carolina star, plays for coach Rex Ryan, who has been known to talk smack.

Gronkowski is expected to get the ball a lot.

Ryan addressed the Gronk game plan: “There probably will be some snaps when three guys are on him.”

Covering Gronkowski will not be an easy task for Gilmore because of the tight end’s size and speed.
