Blythewood’s Davante Harris gets a shot with Indianapolis Colts

Former Blythewood standout Davante Harris signed a free-agent deal with the Indianapolis Colts late Saturday.

Harris will report to the team’s rookie mini-camp this week.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle started all 12 games this season for Appalachian State and was a second-team Sun Belt selection. He allowed just one sack in 746 snaps this year.

Harris played his first two years on defense before moving to offense.

Three Newberry College players have been invited to tryouts this week. Linebacker Taylor McDonnell and offensive lineman Hayden Wilks are headed to New York Jets’ camp, and fullback Alstevis Squirewell will camp with the Green Bay Packers.
