Maroon 5 announces Columbia tour stop

Pop-rock quintet Maroon 5 announced Monday morning that it is adding dates to the band’s upcoming fall tour, including a stop in Columbia.

Adam Levine and Co. will perform at the Colonial Life Arena in on Saturday, September 10.

The announcement comes three days after the band canceled shows in Charlotte and Raleigh due to the HB2 law. However, Colonial Life Arena General Manager Sid Kenyon said the band was in talks to perform here weeks before the cancellations.

Maroon 5 is known for hits “Moves Like Jagger,” “Sugar” and “Animals.” The band’s current album, “V,” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart.

Swedish singer Tove Lo and pop duo R. City will open the Columbia show.

Tickets for the general public go on sale at 10 a.m. June 3 at www.ticketmaster.com, the Lexington Medical Center Box Office inside Colonial Life Arena, by phone (800) 745-3000 or Livenation.com.
