Lunch with a side of booze? Local brewery adds Friday lunch service
Get your weekend started a few hours earlier — River Rat Brewery is about to open the taproom at noon on Fridays for lunch, starting Jan. 19.
Chef Rob Schiller has been tinkering with different food items and will introduce a pimento cheese chicken Philly sandwich and a pork schnitzel sandwich on Friday, Jan. 19. There will also be an 8-ounce aged beef and short rib burger option. Schiller hopes to have a full lunch menu with a rotation of sandwiches, burger and 12-inch pizza specials set by Jan. 26. One item that has made the cut for the permanent menu are the fresh soft pretzels served as a pair with German mustard and beer queso.
The Friday lunch program joins River Rat’s nightly offerings such as wings, pizzas, sandwiches and nachos and the once-a-week Taco Tuesday. The kitchen will open Fridays at noon and stay open until 10 p.m. so you can settle in and sample the brewery’s latest releases or classics like Broad River Red Ale or My Morning Stout while you have some lunch.
