Cromer’s announces opening date at new North Main location

It’s official, Cromer’s will open the new location at 3030 North Main St. in Columbia on Thursday, Feb. 15.

Customers will to be able to see behind the scenes of the day-to-day operations at Cromer’s as the huge vats used to boil peanuts and poppers used to pop popcorn will be out in the open. There will also be a dedicated retail space for shopping, along with counter service for customers and a sit-down dining area.

Cromer’s operated for 40 years on Assembly Street before moving briefly to the Bluff Road area and finally settling in on Huger Street in 2003. The new North Main location is in an area undergoing a revival of sorts. In recent years, new shops, restaurants and craft breweries have opened in re-purposed buildings and the City of Columbia has been upgrading water and sewer services in the area.

The new hours will be 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
