Churches vandalized with anti-Billy Graham graffiti for second week in a row

For the second week in a row, vandals have struck churches with vulgar graffiti about the late Billy Graham.

Sunday, it was discovered that the Upward Baptist Church in Henderson County, N.C. was the latest target of vandalism.

Church members at the congregation in Flat Rock arrived Sunday morning to find vulgar and offensive language spray painted on the church building, according to multiple reports. Some of the graffiti was critical of the Carolina-born evangelist.

A week ago, on Feb. 25, the Life Spring Community Church in Simpsonville was defaced with obscene messages and Satanic symbols that were spray painted.

Along with a pentagram, was a vulgar and poorly written message directed toward “Billy Grahm.”

Graham was the target of scorn again Sunday, as two of the businesses next to the church, Richard D Hatch & Associates and Miller Brothers Construction, were also spray painted with offensive language, foxcarolina.com reported.

“It’s a sad that they would desecrate the name of a wonderful man like Billy Graham, we’re concerned about it, we’ll be praying about it,” church pastor Wilburn Lefler said, according to wlos.com.

The Sunday morning service was still held and some members of the church stayed after to help remove he graffiti, according to multiple reports.

The incident is being investigated by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, and anyone with information is asked to call 828-697-4911.
