ALDI on Sunset Boulevard to reopen, feature full renovation

The ALDI grocery store located at 5182 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington will reopen on June 29 after being closed temporarily for a full store remodel.

In February, ALDI announced an aggressive $1.6 billion investment in its stores, with more than $8 million dedicated to enhancing stores in Columbia. The Lexington location is one of seven area ALDI stores that are slated for remodeling. The company plans to renovate more than 1,300 stores nationwide by 2020.

ALDI intends to complete all remodels of its Midlands-area stores by the end of 2018. According to a company spokesperson, the new ALDI store look includes more robust produce, dairy and bakery sections. Remodeled stores will also feature a modern design, open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials – such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.
