A woman was found holding her eyeball outside a South Carolina church Tuesday.
The incident occurred at the South Main Chapel in Anderson, and deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene between 10:30 and 11 a.m. to assists EMS, according to multiple reports.
A woman appeared to have intentionally hurt herself on railroad tracks near the church, said the Rev. Terry Mitchell, a retired minister who helped her, according to independentmail.com.
Sheriff’s deputies also said it was a self-inflicted injury, wyff4.com reported.
Mitchell said the woman, in her late teens or early 20s, was standing on her knees and she struggled against people who were trying to help her get treatment, independentmail.com reported. A medical helicopter transported the woman away from the scene.
Although the sheriff’s office was involved, no crime was committed and no charges will be filed, according to foxcarolina.com.
