Ex-boyfriend faces charges in killings of father, daughter in Richland County
An ex-boyfriend has been arrested in connection with the weekend shooting deaths of a woman and her father at a Northeast Richland home.
Willie Jermone Wilson, 25, was in custody late Sunday afternoon on two counts of murder, after the Richland County Sheriff’s Department had asked for the public’s help earlier in the day locating him, said sheriff’s department spokesman Lt. Curtis Wilson.
The victims of the weekend shootings were identified as Dunber P. Dolo, 55, and his daughter Magaiteh J. Dolo, 24, said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts. Both died from complications of gunshot wounds to the upper body.
The suspect was arrested without incident around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of an acquaintance on Screaming Eagle Road Extension, the sheriff’s department said. The U.S. Marshals service and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Task Force were involved in the arrest. Other details about the circumstances of the arrest were not available late Sunday.
Just before 9 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Brandon Hall Road, in a quiet Northeast Richland subdivision, after the elder Dolo was found lying on the front lawn of a residence, according to the sheriff’s department. A neighbor had alerted authorities.
Dolo’s daughter was found in the yellow, two-story home next door, where she had lived with her father, the sheriff’s department said. EMS pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release the suspect, an ex-boyfriend of Magaiteh Dolo, forced his way into the home through the rear door, where he allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend and her father. The sheriff added that this was part of an ongoing domestic dispute between the suspect and the Dolos.
The neighborhood, which is just off Hard Scrabble Road, is made up of four subdivisions: Brandon Hall, Ashley Hall, Magnolia Hall and Ashley Place. The shooting happened in Brandon Hall.
An investigation is continuing.
