Lexington coroner IDs victims killed in motorcycle crash Saturday

Officials have released the identities of a man and woman killed when the motorcycle they were riding struck a vehicle in Lexington County on Saturday evening.

The crash happened at about 7 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of St. Andrews Road and Jamil Road, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.

Columbia residents Matthew William Foster, 30, and Monira Mae Baylock, 19, died at the scene. Neither Foster nor Baylock were wearing helmets at the time of the wreck, Fisher said.

Autopsies performed Sunday showed that they died from blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured but a passenger in the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Fisher said.

The S.C. Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
