CSX has upped the reward it is offering for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the August 5th train accident in Lugoff.

In an announcement on Friday, the CSX police said the reward is now $25,000, up from the initial $5,000 reward announced earlier in the week.

Investigators believe that the train hit a yellow bulldozer that was left on the tracks, resulting in 12 of 18 cars and one of the two locomotives derailing. The accident occurred around 1 a.m. on August 5th near Highway 601 and Medfield Road in Lugoff.

Although no one was injured in the accident, the tracks sustained “major damage” and damage was done to a nearby warehouse, authorities said at the time.
