Body of missing Midlands woman found in woods, foul play suspected
The body of a Sumter woman who was recently reported missing was found in a wooded area Thursday in what the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is calling a homicide.
Suzette Ginther, 27, was reported missing Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office. A body found in a state forest camping area later that day has been identified as Ginther by the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.
Shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday, a hunter happened upon what appeared to be the body of a woman in Manchester State Forest near Camp Burnt Gin and reported his findings to deputies.
“We suspect foul play and are treating it as a homicide,” said Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis.
No arrests have been made, according to the sheriff’s office. The investigation is ongoing and SLED is assisting the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
