Body discovered in Saluda River, recovery and investigation underway
A body was discovered in the Saluda River Thursday night.
Around 7 p.m., the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department reported its deputies had responded to a report of a body in the river in the area in the 700 block of Joseph Walker Drive.
Both the West Columbia Fire Department and the Lexington County Fire Services also responded to the scene.
The body was discovered by a person who was walking along the riverbank on just before 6 p.m. Thursday.
The Sheriff’s Department said it was in the process of recovering the body, and working to determine the circumstances of the death.
No identification on the body has been given.
