11-year-old SC girl killed in hit-and-run

An 11-year-old South Carolina girl was killed in what officials say was a hit-and-run Saturday, and troopers need the public’s help in finding the car that hit her.

The collision happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Wells Highway and Owens Road, just east of Seneca, according to Lance Cpl. Justin Sutherland of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The victim, identified by Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis as 11-year-old Emmalee Budrevich, was crossing Wells Highway when a car hit her.

The driver fled, and Emmalee died at the scene, Sutherland said.

Addis said Emmalee, a sixth grader at Seneca Middle School, was walking with two friends from her home to a nearby Dollar General.

Troopers are looking for a white Chevrolet Tahoe, with the model ranging from 2005 to 2010. The SUV could have damage to the left front side and undercarriage, troopers say.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death, Addis said.
