Two people are in custody after a Monday morning bank robbery ended in a police chase and crash on Interstate 26, according to authorities.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department tweeted around 11:30 a.m. that two suspects robbed a Wells Fargo in Chapin. A sheriff’s deputy chased the suspects until they crashed on I-26 near Harbison Boulevard.

One suspect was taken custody and a second was on the run for a short time, the sheriff’s department said.

There was no immediate word on charges against the suspects, who have not yet been identified.

It was unclear if either of the suspects was armed.

The collision appears to be causing some congestion in the eastbound lanes of I-26 near Harbison Boulevard. Deputies say drivers in that area should expect delays.
