Woman shot at Latimer Manor identified; person of interest arrested

Officials have released the name of the woman who was found dead in a Latimer Manor apartment Saturday night and charged a woman with voluntary manslaughter.

Marvetta Rowe, 26, died at the scene at about 10 p.m. after she was shot in the chest, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said.

Tameka Randal, 30, is charged with voluntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, Columbia Police Department public information liaison Jennifer Timmons said about the incident where the police responded to the apartment complex on Lorick Circle late Saturday night.

Randal was a person of interest and turned herself in Sunday, according to Timmons, who said investigators believe the friends were handling a firearm inside an apartment when Randal is accused of shooting the victim.

Randal was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, said Timmons, adding the investigation is ongoing.
