Sumter police investigate fatal Friday shooting

Sumter police appealed to the public for help determining why someone shot and killed 28-year-old Ante Lavern Witherspoon late Friday afternoon.

Authorities were called to the Dibert Street area, off the Robert E. Graham Freeway, after 4 p.m. where they found Witherspoon’s body.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700.
