Man killed during Columbia robbery
A 33-year-old man was shot and killed during a robbery around midnight Saturday.
Timothy Callahan died from a gunshot wound to the upper body according to an autopsy, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said.
The man was shot in the upper and lower body in the 1100 block of Dorrah Street, Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said in a news release Sunday.
Several people tried to help the victim before EMS arrived. The man later died at an area hospital at 12:43 a.m.
According to witnesses, the suspect shot the man after demanding his vehicle, the news release said. After the shooting, the suspect ran from the scene.
